Notes: Very cozy stateroom and comfortable for what it was - a place to unwind and sleep! We loved it.
Pros:
- Convenient to adult areas and Walt Disney Theater.
- Fairly convenient to areas to get off the ship at certain ports.
- Not too far of a walk from the nearest elevator bank but not too close either. Elevator sweet spot!
- No noise whatsoever from being directly below O'Gill's pub. The pub's music isn't loud and I did not hear any bleed-over from the pub in our room. This was my biggest worry when noting the location of our room prior to sailing and it was not an issue at all! (Side note: Based on feedback from another cruiser on this cruise, you should try to steer clear of rooms beneath Fathoms - those rooms will present much more disruptive noise bleed-over than O'Gill's, which is pretty much 0 issue.)
- Easy enough to get to the soda fountain at the aft section of the ship, even if the deck plan makes it seem like it will be an endless slog from this room. Try walking to the aft of the ship while still on deck 2 and then take the elevator up to 9 - much less weaving through crowds on deck 9 to get to the soda!
Cons
NOTE: I honestly was not bothered at all by any of these and still give the room a 5-star. But I want to mention them for full disclosure, as others may find this pertinent.
- Very slight noise when ship docks and leaves port. (From about 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM and roughly around 5:00 PM or so).
I would describe this as sort of like the sound of a low vibration rattling something in the room very slightly. It is enough to be noticed but I didn't find it grating/annoying. My husband slept through it most all of the days and I didn't have any issues ignoring it for the small duration it was around if it did happen to coincide with me being awake.
My husband and I theorize this is the noise of the mooring lines or anchor lines being unspooled in the morning and then retracted in the evening - this room is close to the anchor chains.
This should only concern you if you are an insanely light sleeper, but even then I found the noise not too troubling.
- Slightly more rocking motion being in the forward of the ship.
Those with motion sickness may already know this and go for the middle parts of the ship anyways. There was a tiny bit of extra movement from being in the forward part of the ship, though I found it almost soothing when in bed like being rocked to sleep or something. This is all subjective, of course.
Overall
- Very snug and cozy room. Just big enough to be comfortable but not too small to be constrictive. Husband and I enjoyed the room for the week we were there. Bed was comfortable. I'd suggest this room for those looking for an 11C or, for those who may have been assigned this as an IGT like we were, don't be worried - very good room!
